In her painterly series "Nicht-Orte", Annabell Häfner deals with transit spaces of the modern world and the sensations that unfold there. Waiting rooms, airport halls and hotel rooms, for example, are characterised above all by their emptiness and lack of traces. In this anonymity, the self is thrown back on itself, one's own feelings are perceived more intensely. The moment is simultaneously coloured by loneliness and intimacy. Häfner translates the fleetingness of feelings and memories of these places into painterly reduction and speed in the painting process.
